An All-Abilities Program of Coventry Little League · 2026 Season
The Coventry Challenger program is an all-abilities baseball program under the umbrella of Coventry Little League, serving players of all abilities who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the joy of America's favorite pastime.
Founded in 2017 by Challenger Division Rep Leslie Proffitt, the program started as a single team and has grown over nine seasons into something truly special — two competitive teams, a dedicated volunteer Buddy program, and a game-day experience that rivals any level of play.
"Every child deserves to be seen, to be included, and to have a place where they truly belong."
At every Challenger game, players hear their name called from the announcer's booth and walk up to their own personal walk-up song — just like the pros. Home team players choose their own tracks; visiting players select from a curated playlist of crowd favorites. Every single player gets their moment.
This season, Challenger games are played on a newly upgraded Field 1 at Wampler Complex — featuring accessibility improvements that make the experience better for every player, buddy, and family in attendance.
These upgrades were made possible in part through a generous grant from Eggland's Best and the support of local community businesses.
🥚 Supported by Eggland's Best · $15,000 GrantFrom the dugout to home plate — Challenger baseball at its best.
Every game, volunteer Buddy teams from the community show up to make sure every Challenger player has a partner by their side. We're grateful for every one of them.
Every Challenger player is paired with a Buddy — a volunteer who provides hands-on support, encouragement, and friendship throughout the game. Buddies range from fellow young players in the CLL community to adult volunteers who show up week after week.
Whether they're running the bases together, cheering from the dugout, or sharing a high-five at exactly the right moment — our Buddies make this program possible.
The Challenger program grows because of community support. Whether you want to volunteer as a Buddy, enroll a player, or simply come cheer from the stands — there's a place for you here.
Older CLL players and community adults are welcome. Reach out via the CLL SignUpGenius or contact Leslie Proffitt directly.
